AIGDSU Circular on Online Membership Verification and Organisational Preparedness

The circular outlines the union’s stance and organisational readiness for the forthcoming online membership verification of GDS employees by the Department of Posts.

• The Department of Posts plans to conduct verification through employee ID and OTP-based authentication.
• AIGDSU opposes the proposed system but is preparing for the process expected around October–November 2026.
• Divisional offices are advised to appoint nodal officers (ASP/Inspector level) for verification.

Organisational Preparedness:

• Every Division and Branch must strengthen grassroots organisation.

Members should:

• Contact all GDS employees.
• Explain AIGDSU’s issues and demands.
• Bring newly recruited and younger GDS employees into the union.
• Maintain updated membership details.
• Coordinate with other postal unions (P3, P4, NFPE).
• The goal is to secure more than 75% membership in verification.

Present Situation of GDS Employees:

• The government has restored minimum trade union facilities to AIPEU Group-C.
• AIGDSU continues to fight for full recognition and democratic rights.
• Comrade S. S. Mahadevaiah, General Secretary, was victimised for the 2023 strike; his case is still pending.
• GDS employees face harassment, disciplinary actions, and denial of uniform trade union facilities.

Major Issues and Demands:

• Constitution of a GDS Pay Committee.
• Inclusion of GDS in the 8th Central Pay Commission.
• Pension and social security benefits.
• Extension of CGHS/ESI medical facilities.
• Financial upgradation and protection against victimisation.
• Proper trade union facilities and departmental infrastructure.

Organisational and Agitational Programmes:

• CHQ will announce further programmes after virtual discussions.
• Members must stay prepared for collective struggle and strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.

Quota Remittance:

• Divisional and Branch Secretaries must clear pending quotas immediately.
• Circles should ensure prompt remittance and maintain proper records.

Immediate Organisational Action:

• All Secretaries must prioritise preparations for online verification.
• The union must be ready before official notification.
