Sub: POSB CBS Reconciliation Work – Conduct of specialised training programmes in all Regions of Tamil Nadu Circle – Request – Reg.

Ref: PMG, Central Region letter No. ICO(SB)/Training on SB Order 09/26 dated 23.10.2026 (Copy enclosed for ready reference).

A kind reference is invited to the letter cited above, wherein the Postmaster General, Central Region, has initiated the arrangements made for conducting a training programme for officials working in Central Region on POSB CBS reconciliation work.

At the outset, my Union wishes to place on record its sincere appreciation for the timely initiative taken by the Postmaster General, Central Region, in organising this specialised training programme. The services of Shri B. Manoj Prabakar, Postal Assistant, Vellore West Sub-Division, who possesses sound knowledge of APT 2.0 and considerable proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for POSB CBS reconciliation work, have been utilised for imparting the necessary training to the officials concerned.

The initiative deserves special appreciation, as POSB CBS reconciliation has reportedly become a herculean task in several offices and divisions. The officials handling this work are required to deal with complex reconciliation issues, discrepancies in accounts, transaction-related variations and other operational difficulties. In the absence of adequate practical training and a clear understanding of the prescribed procedures, the task becomes increasingly cumbersome, resulting in additional workload, delays in reconciliation and avoidable difficulties for the staff concerned.

In this context, the training programme arranged by the Postmaster General, Central Region, is a welcome step in the right direction. Practical training by an experienced official having sound knowledge of APT 2.0 and Excel-based reconciliation techniques will undoubtedly help the staff understand the process more effectively, identify and resolve discrepancies, improve the accuracy of reconciliation and minimise the recurrence of similar complications in the future. It will also enhance the confidence of the officials entrusted with this important responsibility and contribute to the smooth functioning of POSB CBS operations.

My Union wishes to submit that the benefits of such training should not remain confined to Central Region alone. Similar difficulties in POSB CBS reconciliation work are understood to be experienced by officials working in other Regions of Tamil Nadu Circle as well. Therefore, extending this training facility to all Regions would be of immense benefit to the staff and the Department alike.

In view of the above, my Union earnestly requests that the kind intervention of the Hon’ble Chief Postmaster General may be solicited to issue suitable instructions to the Regional Heads of Chennai City Region, Southern Region and Western Region to organise similar specialised training programmes at the earliest, utilising the services of Shri B. Manoj Prabakar, PA, Vellore West Sub-Division, as the resource person, subject to administrative convenience and his availability.

It is further requested that the training may be designed to provide practical, hands-on guidance on POSB CBS reconciliation, including the effective use of Excel tools, identification and rectification of discrepancies, handling of pending reconciliation items and adherence to the prescribed procedures. Wherever necessary, suitable training materials and standardised working instructions may also be shared with the participants for their future reference.

Such a coordinated initiative across all Regions will facilitate the adoption of a uniform procedure for POSB CBS reconciliation throughout Tamil Nadu Circle, reduce avoidable errors and backlogs, improve operational efficiency and ensure that officials are better equipped to discharge their duties without undue difficulty. It will also help the administration establish consistency in reconciliation practices and prevent the recurrence of similar issues in different divisions.

Considering the importance of POSB CBS reconciliation in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of savings bank transactions, my Union sincerely hopes that this request will receive favourable consideration and that necessary instructions will be issued to all the Regional Heads concerned for conducting the training programmes at the earliest.
